As we prepare to head into the holiday season and join family and friends for Thanksgiving, I think it appropriate to pause for a moment to consider how fortunate we all are to be a part of the Sewickley Academy community. Our students receive an extraordinary education that supports not just their intellectual and academic growth, but their full capacities as people, as leaders, as artists, as musicians, as teammates, and as friends. At Sewickley Academy, we focus on fostering Relationships for Learning to support, guide, nurture, and inspire each member of this community to strive to be their best.
Our students challenge and support each other’s efforts to achieve excellence. Our faculty collaborate with each other to ensure their classes create the inspiring and robust opportunities for learning that we want for our students. Our parents partner with the school to ensure the best learning outcomes for their children. Our many benefactors and friends who support our work in large and small ways. For all these things, we can and should be grateful.
As we look forward to the season when gifts are exchanged, I know many of us will recall with appreciation the opportunities we were given to attain an extraordinary education, and as we consider the not insignificant commitment of resources that such an education requires, we can take satisfaction in the knowledge that a superior education literally lasts a lifetime. And for those who may not have had the best educational opportunities, there is an even heightened sense of the importance of making sure the next generation is better prepared for what the future holds. It is, in the words of my father-in-law, an immigrant who was the first in his family to go to college, the one thing that you can never lose and which can never be taken from you.
As Sewickley Academy, we are mindful of our blessings, and we acknowledge and thank all the many people – parents, teachers, classmates, and countless others – who have made this school the remarkable place it is and without whose commitment we would not all be able to share in the bounty of this community. Learn more about how you can provide a superior education for your child.
I wish you a happy, healthy, and joyful holiday season.
