Meet Annual Giving Officer Brittani SpencerSA: Why did you choose to work at Sewickley Academy?

BS: I chose Sewickley Academy because of its excellent reputation. The community is drawn to a strong Mission and Core Values. The school also offers immense opportunities for faculty and staff.

SA: What motivated you to become a teacher or to work in education?

BS: I started my career in advancement after pursuing a degree in nonprofit management. I have always been a compassionate person and knew from an early age that I wanted to make a difference in the world. Working in educational advancement allows me to play a small part in shaping our future leaders.

SA: What do you enjoy most about teaching or working in education?

BS: I enjoy the passionate and creative atmosphere that the educational setting has to offer.

SA: What is the most important life lesson you would pass on to students?

BS: A lesson that all should learn at an early age is to not hesitate when you should act. Too often we fail to act due to lack of confidence and courage.

SA: How do you keep current in your field?

BS: I keep current with advancement trends and topics by subscribing to daily emails, enrolling in workshops, and watching webinars.

SA: Favorite book as a child?

"Madeline" by Ludwig Bemelmans

SA: Favorite book as an adult?

BS: "My Sister’s Keeper" by Jodi Picoult

SA: What are some of your interests/hobbies?

BS: I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, volunteering, cooking, traveling, and exercising.

SA: What are you most looking forward to this school year?

BS: I am looking forward to getting to know the community, hearing success stories, and connecting with parents, alumni, and friends.
