Q&A with SA's New Director of Human Resources Robert Allison

6 Questions with Robert AllisonRobert "Bob" Allison arrived on Sewickley Academy's campus on May 13, 2019, from Washington & Jefferson College where he served as the Director of Human Resources. He started that role in 2013 and served as a Human Resources Specialist for seven years prior to that. As a complement to his extensive experience working at the college level, Bob also has corporate experience from his time at Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc., where he served in the local Pittsburgh office as a Human Resources Clerk and Recruiter.

Bob earned his B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology at West Virginia University and an M.S. in Human Resources Management at La Roche College. He also has his Professional in Human Resources certification from the Human Resources Certification Institution. 

SA: Why did you choose to work at Sewickley Academy?

BA: The environment here matches my personality. Everyone is so kind and professional. This is where I want to work.

SA: How do you keep current with the subject areas you cover?

BA: I attend workshops/conferences throughout the year.

SA: What was your favorite book as a child?

BA: My parents reminded me that I enjoyed "Good Night Moon" as a young child.

SA: What is your favorite book as an adult?

BA: "Good to Great" by James C. Collins.

SA: What are some of your interests/hobbies?

BA: Working out and watching football games.

SA: What are you looking forward to this school year?

BA: I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone.
